None of us particularly enjoy the experience of carrying our luggage around with us on the way to, or coming back from our holiday. We all perhaps wish earnestly that we could reduce the quantity of luggage that we take with us, or that somehow they would invent luggage that would be able to compress all of our belongings so that perhaps they would pop conveniently into a pocket, yet at the same time be able to be unpacked and fill an entire wardrobe.

If, like myself, you’ve got children, you’ll no doubt understand my apprehension at the prospect of traveling abroad as a family this summer. Traveling with kids is not for the faint-hearted or disorganized. Having made enough mistakes in the past for us all, I now know that it’s all in the preparation.
Firstly, you need to make sure that wherever you’re heading it’s going to be child-friendly. I know this sounds fairly obvious, but it’s amazing what we forget to consider when we get in the holiday mood. We start thinking about those wonderful beaches and blue seas, and imagine that of course we’ll be able to find something for our kids to do when we get there. Right.

“You have to think positive!” Aren’t there times you’ve wanted to sucker-punch these Pollyanna types? You know the ones. They walk around smiling in their own little worlds. While you’re trying to hold it together.
They are not looking after an aging parent. What do they know? They wouldn’t last a day doing what you do!
Well, okay…never mind their total lack of insight. It is true. As caregivers especially, we have to pay attention to our “thoughts”.
As that wily old Greek philosopher by the name of Plato once said, “Thinking is the talking of the soul with itself.”

Quilting is the art of stitching through padding that has been placed between 2 layers of cloth. It was believed to have been invented by the Americans in the 19th Century. However this is not true. In fact, quilting has been around in Egypt since 3,400 BC. Certainly one of the earliest examples to be found of quilting was that of a carved ivory figure of an Egyptian pharaoh from the 1st Dynasty. The figure was supposedly wearing a quilted mantle and certainly quilting was probably used as layers in clothing in order to keep a person warm.
